On campus this beautiful Saturday morning to help proctor the ACT.  This should be a motivated and energetic group... not.   This is the first weekend for many since school let out for the summer and they are taking the ACT.  Plus, the weather is absolutely gorgeous this morning.  I expect a lethargic group.

Received two eBay packages after work yesterday.  Both include Michigan basketball additions.  First up, I now have two copies of the Neon Blue version of this Webber card:


I took advantage of a combined shipping rate and also picked up two 1992-93 Stadium Club Beam Team cards:


And the other eBay purchase is a 2018-19 Glen Rice that is AU, MEM, SN49:


I am a sucker for cards that are AU, MEM, SN.

Four Package Friday

Four packages to cover today - all TCDB trades.  My first trade with SeaKing leads the afternoon off.  The lone set builder goes toward the 1983 Topps set:

My First "Big" Canadian Trade

Yesterday's lone package comes via a frequent trading partner at TCDB - Dan (PapaG321).  Prior to this trade my Canadian trades had been limited solely to PWEs.  Dan shared some tips, and I read some helpful advice on the TCDB boards, and we hammered out my first "big" Canadian trade.  Nearly 200 cards went each way tucked in large envelopes.  It cost me under $7.00 to ship, or just under $0.04 per card.  Not bad at all.  On to the contents of the trade...  we start with a stack 1991 Score set builders:

I only wish I had been brave enough to attempt trades on a larger scale with our Canadian friends sooner.  It was easier and cheaper than I had assumed, and my post office was really helpful.  I've already sent a second such large envelope out and will certainly send more in the future.

Another Glen Rice Auto

One card to share today - a 2018-19 Status Glen Rice auto purchased off eBay:



Among my collection of autographs, Glen Rice is the runaway leader.  At last count I have fifty-something different autographed cards of Glen.  Heck, when you lead UM to its only hoops title you deserve some special recognition.

I saw Muse play the United Center about a decade ago.  One of the best concerts I ever attended... back when I used to go to shows.  A quick Google search reveals that the show was in March 2010.

I received one package yesterday; a single card eBay purchase.  Here we have a 2018-19 Spectra Chris Webber MEM, SN49:



I spent a portion of my slow Friday afternoon at work scanning and uploading images to TCDB of the 2018-19 Status base cards.  Why is it so rare to see photos of guys dunking in recent years?  Most of the base cards feature photos of guys dribbling or taking a jumper; you'd think it was 1958-1959 and not 2018-19.  What's next?  Two hand chest passes on cards?  During the boom of the early to mid 90s we had tons of cards featuring dunks.  (See Shawn Kemp)  Sometimes I think Panini puts about as much effort into their cards as Krusty:

Received three packages yesterday.  First up, my third trade with TCDB member andres79 which is strictly hockey.  We start with a pair of Michigan additions:

Yesterday’s third and final package comes via COMC.  I took advantage of the recent spring sale and went on a mini buying binge.  Additionally, I won a $25 credit through one of their Facebook contests.  The COMC package begins with baseball set builders and includes (1984 Fleer 99%, 1984 Topps 96%, 1986 Donruss 100%, 1987 Opening Day 100%, 1989 Fleer All-Stars insert 100%, and 1989 Topps Traded 100%):

A small batch of basketball set builders that allowed me to complete 1989-90 Fleer Stickers insert set and move my 1996-97 Finest set up to 69% complete:

Some nice football additions that allowed me to finally complete the 1985 Topps and 1986 Topps 1000 Yard Club insert sets.  Some key 1989 pick-ups move my completion rate for both the Score and Topps Traded sets to 94%:

Finally, the COMC box wraps up with three Ed Belfour’s.  I used the bulk of the Facebook credit to buy the autographed card – my first Belfour AU!
