Watching: Middle Tennessee St. at Michigan on BTN
College football returned today. The opening slate of games though is lacking; only one top 25 match-up. Bama started slowly this afternoon, but Tua found his rhythm. The Tide's O-Line looked less than dominant at times. Could be an issue against stiffer competition. Michigan is frustrating the heck out of me. Two turnovers have led to 14 MTSU points. The new high paced offense we've heard so much about looks much like last year's. Shea Patterson is still inconsistent. I felt last year, he's a good QB, but he's not an elite QB, the kind that can make the play to win the big game against an elite team. I really wish Harbaugh would develop Dylan McCaffrey to be the guy going forward.
I received one package today; a trade with sandyrusty that added 17 cards to my 83 Topps set:
As with most Saturday mornings, I found myself running errands and popping into Target. The card section was nicely stocked today so I picked up some packs for Owen's collection:
I also picked up my second Heritage High Number fat pack:
And what a pack it is! Vlad Jr and Tatis RCs highlight additions to Owen's collection:
A trio of RCs I will be holding onto:
Sadly, all three have dinged lower right corners.
The remaining cards have been placed on my For Trade list:
Michigan appears to have this one in hand, but I'm unimpressed. The team I'm seeing right now against MTSU has no chance of beating the Buckeyes. We need to some serious growth over the next ten games. Next week's contest against Army has me concerned. That's a tough offense to prepare for. Two big tilts next Saturday; Texas A&M-Clemson and Texas-LSU.

tenlbpain... more like tenlbjoy!
Listening: Soundgarden
Down on the Upside
Two packages to cover today.
The first is my second trade with slwcards and begins with a pair of set
builders for both 83 Topps and 91 Fleer:
The remaining cards are all 2019 stars heading to Owen’s collection:
I actually picked up this second package on Tuesday. I have spent the past two evenings working my
way through it. My eighth trade with
tenlbpain is a doozy. Nick proposed this
trade and sent me over 800 cards:
We start with baseball set builders which includes a nice
stack of 83 Topps:
The bulk of the trade is devoted to basketball set
builders. A myriad of sets from across
the 90s are covered, but Nick also included a nice stack of 88-89 Fleer and a
few 18-19 Hoops:
Football set builders include a nice stack of 91 Ultra and a
big stack of 92 Stadium Club:
A number of 90s era basketball additions to the Michigan
collection, including a few parallels:
And the trade concludes with a Brady for the Michigan
collection and a pair of Bama additions:
Thank you very much for the trade, Nick!

Is This It
Listening: The
Strokes Is This It
I actually saw The Strokes play a couple of times back in my younger days. I saw them play a show in Madison in what must have been 2003 and then I saw them on tour with their third album in Birmingham while I was going to Bama.
Three packages to cover today; all TCDB trades. My third trade with BobbyL includes a Lewan
RC for the Michigan collection:
A small trade with john_morones adds some 2019 baseball
stars to Owen’s collection:
My fifth trade with Hilochef adds small stacks of 2019
baseball stars from the Topps flagship and Opening Days sets:

Call me Ishmael
Watching: Cardinals vs Brewers on Fox Sports Wisconsin
I took the afternoon off to get Harper's teeth cleaned and then to get the car serviced. In between appointments we stopped by Target to pick up a coloring book so Harper would have something to do while we waited for the car. Of course, I could not leave empty handed:
I opened the Archives pack first and the card sitting on top of the stack was none other than Vlad Jr. In total I picked up seven cards from the Archives fat pack for Owen's collection:
Owen's collection gained six cards from the Heritage Series 2 fat pack, including a Tatis Jr insert:
I am going to hold onto some of the rookies included in the two packs, including a Biggio:
The remaining cards have been placed on my For Trade list:
I picked up a Chrome parallel from the Heritage pack, unfortunately, it does yet appear on TCDB:
I received two packages today; both TCDB trades. A small basketball trade with TheToddFather21 tips things off and begins with a trio of 95-96 Flair set builders:
The trade wraps up with a pair of Michigan additions:
Another trade with Tgrs_4_me follows and is comprised solely of 2019 baseball stars for Owen's collection:
Oh, one more thing, I finally harpooned my white whale!
Since June 1 nine Webber printing plates have been listed on eBay. I bid on the first eight and lost them all. A couple I lost in the final seconds. Painful. Last week one appeared with a Buy It Now option and I took the plunge. Some of the previous plates looked nicer, or at the very least more interesting, but I am thrilled to finally have a Webber printing plate.

Watching: America's Funniest Videos on ABC

Chasing a white whale; colored TP
Listening: Talking
Heads More Songs About Buildings and Food
Another little lull in posting. To be expected after taking about a week off
from sending out offers. I have sent
about a dozen trades out this week so we should have a nice, steady stream of
cards to cover in the coming week or two.
I failed to mention on Monday that I missed out on yet
another Chris Webber printing plate on eBay.
Basically, it feels like one pops up for bidding every ten days or
so. Initially, they were going for just
over $50. Lately, they’ve been selling
for $60, $70, even $80. That’s
nuts. A Webber printing plate, at a
somewhat reasonable price, has become my white whale.
We were watching Despicable
Me 3 on Netflix the other night for about the fifth time in the last two
weeks and Harper pointed out that the minions had pink toilet paper.
I thought for a moment and said, “Do they
make colored toilet paper anymore? You
go to the store and the shelves are stocked with nothing but white TP.” My wife, who is only four years younger than
me, responded with something like, “What do you mean ‘anymore’?” I told her I remembered colored TP as a kid,
but she did not. So I had to Google it
and prove to her that colored TP was an option when we were growing up. By the late 80s it had largely been phased
out.
I received one package yesterday and two more today; all
TCDB trades. My first trade with
otisthelab kicks things off and consists of football additions for the Michigan
and Bama collections:
A stack of 90-91 Score Canadian set builders from Dmalshere1
follows:
My sixth trade with AwgyDawgy concludes today’s recap. We begin with a trio of 91 Fleer set
builders:
The majority of the trade consists of basketball set
builders from the first half of the 90s:
We finish up with a trio of basketball and football
additions for the Michigan collection:
