The Angels are going to give Trout $430 million over 12 years?!?! I don't understand these baseball teams giving players these long contracts that go well beyond their prime years. Trout is 27 so you'll be paying him superstar dollars when he is 39. Well, the Angels are the franchise that gave Pujols a truckload of money and worked out beautifully. The Bryce Harper contract is the same. These teams focus so much on the short term that they sacrifice the long term. When's the last time the Angels were competitive? And that's with Trout. With so much invested in Trout how much can they spend on the other 24 positions? It could be worse; at least it's not the Bobby Bonilla contract.
